Valerie has been a Godsend for me through both of my pregnancies. It was such a comfort to have access to a nurse who was so knowledgeable about her profession and had taken the time to know our family’s needs on a personal level. Valerie would answer all my questions and concerns thoughtfully and scientifically while also fully acknowledging my motherly instincts. She is a nurse who works with you.

Jess & Pablo Milo

From the moment we stepped foot in L&D, we knew we were blessed to have you as our nurse to support and guide through one of the most precious moments/experiences in our lives.

We don’t know if you hear it enough, but you are an angel to your profession, life and us. Thank you for taking care and rooting momma bear on from start to finish, it will forever be engraved in our hearts.

Dr. Leslie Sackschewsky

It’s very hard to  put into words how amazing Valerie is. She is intuitive about what each birthing pair needs. She is incredibly kind, gentle and insightful.

I can’t think of anyone I would rather have on my team.

Working with Val during my son’s birth and postpartum was a Godsend. She is super knowledgeable, intuitive, understanding, and an advocate for what I wanted while balancing best practices for my son.

I can say that my son and I are healthy and thriving today because of Valerie’s expertise and genuine care for us. The words ‘thank you’ aren’t enough to truly convey our gratitude. I highly recommend anyone having a baby seek Val out… You’ll soon realize, she’ll also be new addition to the whole family!

Before
We have been latching without shields now. I’d say 60 to70% of the time it’s a good latch. My posture is still a little “breast to baby” and not “baby to breast” but I’m working on it.
After
I’ve been meaning to say this for the last few days, No questions, no concerns today-just wanted to say that we are latching regularly now, we are eating satisfactorily, and we’ve introduced a bottle with pumped breastmilk and a pacifier, getting ready to go back to work-and all while latching and feeding! It’s only been a few days, but I still wanted to praise UP and also say thank you for your support.

We LOVE aunty Val!! During the initial months of postpartum and with my husband back at work, I utilized Valerie’s services and was so grateful that I did! She was incredible to work with, and was so gracious towards me and baby. Most importantly, I felt seen and heard and she empowered me as a momma and friend. 🙂 Thank you Val!

I tell everybody I know to get a lactation consultant BEFORE they give birth as I truly believe breastfeeding would be a lot easier if women had more access to more help. I highly recommend Valerie specifically because I did work with another consultant beforehand and while she was lovely, she wasn’t quite able to help us the way we needed. Valerie noticed tiny but important details of our lives and provided much needed insight and advice on how to get through the hard times.

Valerie, I mean this when I say this—you truly changed that labor room for Lexy and I for the better. Without you, we both would have panicked. Lexy may not have achieved her no epidural goal if it wasn’t for your couching. You being there took me out of nurse mode and gave me the blessing of being the husband to my wife. I can only speak for myself, and I cannot tell you how thankful and blessed I am to have found you.

This all started from our first doula interview. You were the first and only interview. We thought we would have had to interview a few people before finding the right one. You being a woman of faith, the prayer you said over us in the virtual interview, the knowledge, and the passion came through strong! That strength of all those things told Lexy and I immediately that you were the one we needed to help us bring our son and my wife home safely.  You are apart of our family now. 🩵You are our blessing. We love you and God bless you. 🙏”

It is amazing to say. I still find myself in disbelief that I now have a son and that I am a dad.  I don’t know how to really describe it. All I can say is, I am thankful God let me be a dad and my wife a mom. I am thankful he is here and is healthy. I am also am thankful that he put the best people in our corner to get him earth side and to have support at home. ☺️

Conversation with SG

SG: “Okay got it, hmmm I will text you when we wake up I feel like we will still be here So I’m gonna update you as we get through the first of our morning ❤️❤️  Oh also! I was just thinking can you send me any notes you have on what I was taking during my labor medication, anything you have. Doesn’t have to be tonight ❤️”

Me: “Yes they gave you lactate ringers iv fluids for hydration, vitamins and minerals. They started your induction on cytotec (pill), put the Foley bulb to help dilate, started penicillin iv every 4 hours because your groupbeta strep results pending, iv magnesium sulfate to keep your blood pressure down, because yours were in severe ranges at times had to give you labetalol in your iv, controlled after 2 or so days, then started pitocin once you were about 3 or cm, did they ever give you insulin for high blood sugars, im trying to remember. That was for labor. After you deliver that gave you cytotec in your rectum to help bleeding stop, along with Hemabate, they placed a JADA in your uterus to work as a pressure wall to help you not clot, pain control was Tylenol, motrin, you got started on labetalol pill form.  Okay, keep me posted, kind of give me a good hour or two before you guys are looking out that you gonna be heading out. Cos, I would love to come over and see you guys. And if I don’t, I’ll be making a way down to see you, you know, you got me”

SG: “Great word ❤️ & advice , love it!

Me: “Thank you! “

SG: Help please …I think I have a milk blister I’m pumping now I think it popped. Haven’t been producing a lot of milk. Yesterday only about 30 40 mil each breast :/ weird how it just slowed down

Me : Ok. I hear you. Suction too high. Popping blister not 911 unless you see signs of infection fever, pus, red, tender to touch.
Babies are best pump. I can take a look at it. Have they been latching?

Conversation with BP

BP: We burp her right after every feeding and she usually burps. She seems to hiccup after every feeding session no matter how long. We are seeing the Dr on 1/27. should I schedule a sooner appointment? Right nipple is doing great! No shield

Me: Yay no shield. Nice job mom. Yeah I would because its consistent. Don’t let them blow you off..say its normal. Use the words ” im concerned” that she does this and has for awhile. Could anything else be going on? Stomach? Heart? Mouth? And that you want to be safe.”

Eval from New Mom LP

“As a first-time mom, I was so afraid of everything regarding birth and postpartum. Not only did Valerie give me great preparation and guidance prior, but she coached me through delivery both verbally and hands-on in the most amazing way. She also helped me immensely postpartum with breastfeeding successfully. My experience with late pregnancy, labor, and delivery, and postpartum would not have been nearly as incredible without her. I am so thankful for her and will forever highly recommend her!”
